Madly in Love Monday
I am madly in love this Monday because my Engineer feeds the birds.
What started with a hand-me-down bird feeder from his Grandma has become an obsession.
Now we have a veritable bird buffet lining our back patio. From Hummingbird to Finch to Oriole, we have specialized feeders as well as the general tube feeder, suet feeders, and globe feeders.
Then we have the flowers that attract specific birds, the house that attracts different birds, the traps to get rid of non-native nuisance birds (yes, House Sparrow I'm talking about you); we have it all going on here. Not to mention the special hanging bird waterer and bird bath.
We have birding books, birding web pages saved on favorites, Diva & Engineer have even gone bird banding with an ornithologist. Grape jelly gets put on my shopping list, not for pb&j consumption but for the Orioles and Cat Birds.
I have had to put my foot down recently at talk of getting a meal worm feeder.
That's where I draw the line.
Meal worms.
>Mwahuhuhhhhuh...<
All of that to say, my crunchy on the outside husband actually has a gooey center. He loves his little birds and is so mindful of their needs. Similarly, he is mindful of mine and Diva's needs. I believe he is an instrument used by God all the time but especially when thinking about the birds:
Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?1-4-3 EM for having your eye on the house sparrows...and getting rid of them so that our Bluebirds will flourish. ;)
