Another church another denomination. This one had the warmest welcome that we had received and was a very traditional service. After singing several responses, Diva leaned over and whispered, "This is like an opera!"
We had some friends over while Engineer brewed beer and I finished up using all of those pears. We broke in the new dining room when they stayed for dinner (yea!) and a movie.
Can I just say that the three day weekend followed by the four day work week is heavenly. Heavenly, I tell you.
My brother was in town on business and came over for a visit. It's always nice to catch up with him.
I attempted to groom our little poodle-y/bichon-y/maltese-y rescue puppy in an effort to save a little money and give the poor pup a little relief. He just pants and pants throughout our walks. Truly, he had a several inch thick fro and I thought I was doing him a favor...until I cut his hair.
The best way to describe his post-clipping hairdo, would be that all-over coiffure that a well-loved stuffed animal has after being thrown in the washing machine a time or two. When Diva saw him, she exclaimed, "WHAT DID YOU DO?!!!!!" It wasn't an overreaction. He looked hideous.
This is a dog that has to really try not to be cute. Engineer didn't think it was possible for him not to be cute. He now knows differently.
Thank goodness for a sweet soul at Petsmart. Holly the groomer had an opening and when I brought him in for his appointment, you could see the slight horror/amusement on her face. I explained the situation and just asked her to fix him. To do whatever she could to make him look more like a dog and less like a nappy rat.
She did a brilliant job. Holly may now be my hero.
Diva went with her friend to the annual Centenary College book sale which according to her was "epic."
We were sent the new Keurig 2.0 coffee maker from Influenster to try out and review. It arrived Friday night and we spent the weekend playing with the machine. It is pretty cool. Not the perfect solution for our everyday coffee making needs but wonderful for our upstairs guest room and media room needs. Plus, it makes a really good cuppa.
We finished off the week with my parents, sister-in-law and niece coming over to kick-off Engineer's birthday weekend.
This week we all are going in different directions so I'm going to try and cook what I can ahead of time so we only need to reheat...wish me luck:
Sunday - Dinner w/Family
Monday - Goose Confit, Roasted Potatoes, Green Beans
Tuesday - Spanish Delight and Salad
Wednesday - Lasagna, Garlic Bread, and Salad
Thursday - Chicken & Broccoli Casserole & Salad
Friday - Date Night
Saturday - Leftovers
This is part of MPM.
