Madly in Love
We have a few things we do as a family when we sit down to dinner:
We talk about our "highs and lows" (the best and worst things that happened that day.)
We have a family devotional.
We read from a child-friendly etiquette book.
Sometimes we pull random topics from a conversation jar.
But most nights, we laugh.
Sometimes we laugh more than other times but the other night, we laughed until our sides hurt.
It all started when we were talking about how I cannot make a serious face when I'm trying. (Oh, I can have a plenty serious face when I am actually, you know, serious.) Whether someone wants to take a photo where we are all supposed to look dignified or a bit gangsta, I apparently am incapable of doing it correctly.
My family then began trying to describe my face in such situations complete with accompanying gurning. It is a wonder that anyone made it through dinner without spewing food on the person across from them.
We all pulled faces and belly laughed our way after dinner.
I am so thankful for a family that can guffaw together...even if it is over my lack of facial stoicism.
